The Dictator Formerly Known as Saddam Hussein

Several of these Iraqi evildoers have names right out of a Bond flick: "Dr. Germ," "Missile Man," "Chemical Ali," "Comical Ali"*. But Saddam Hussein is just, well, Saddam Hussein. It's like Dr. No being Joe Wiseman or Goldfinger being Gert Frobe ... there's just no ring to it. Any suggestions for Saddam?

Saddam Hussein
???????

* Probably not an evildoer per se, since W has called him "my man."

The reason President "this is scripted" Bush called Iraqi Minister of Information Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf "my man" is because he couldn't tell the difference between al-Sahhaf's ridiculous pronouncements and those of Ari Fleischer.

If Hussein isn't captured, or his remains identified, he'll soon be referred to (by this administration) as "Saddam Who?" to distinguish him from "Osama Who?".

How about Iraqtopussy, or Honorary Bush Reelection Committee Chairman?

By the way, Mr. Judy Miller Watch, did you notice Nightline used Lois Lame as one of its sources for last night's production of "Dude, Where's My WMD?"

We do need a good name...

I wonder what Nuclear Anhilation Oppenheimer would of come up with. Or Tommy Cluster Bomb Franks. Or Henry "I needlessly killed a half million Cambodians" Kissinger. Well, none of them were that witty with their words but I'll bet Mustard Gas Churchill could have come up with a good one.

How about Former Tyrannical Dictator Ally Who Stepped Out of Line And Had To Be Destroyed?

Anon, please give me the gist of the Nightline piece. I missed it.

Re: Nightline

It was about Dr. Nassar Hindawi, who has come forward saying he was forced to develop biological weapons and then lie to UN inspectors. The main discussion was about whether he should be tried for war crimes.

I was being overly dramatic about Miller; she made some quick and stupidly obvious background comment in the setup piece about how dangerous biological weapons are.

She was identified simply as a New York Times reporter who has been following the WMD search (they didn't even plug her book!) I'm assuming Hindawi isn't Miller's mystery scientist, but nothing was said either way.

I just found it amusing that after all the hand-wringing about Miller, especially in journalismo circles, Koppel and Co. would still seek her out for a quote. It was also kinda weird that zero was said about her supposedly earth-shattering scoop.

I did enjoy your roundup on Judy Judy Judy. Amidst all the hubbub about how lame the networks are in covering the war, it's nice to see the NYT also get a bit of comeuppance.

Speaking of comeuppance for the Times...
