With a Heavy Dose of Crow and Irony

While boy emperor's Iraqi misadventure falls apart faster than you can say "unmitigated clusterfuck," at least there is some ironic comedy in the weekend's news to provide much-needed levity:

U.S. Relying on U.N.'s Help With Iraq Exit Plan

The same U.N. that was derided as useless and irrelevant about a year ago by this administration and Fox News-watchin', freedom fry-eatin', pro-war folk 'round the country is now being counted on to pull America's chestnuts out of the Iraqi fire.

Robin Wright's piece doesn't hold much hope for Lakhdar Brahimi to succeed, and there is probably even less hope after yesterday's Shiite violence, but her article -- posted late Saturday -- does have an incredibly prescient quote from an unnamed State Department official: "We're coming to the point that there's likely to be a confrontation, as there's no chance he or his people (Sadr's) will break up and move into Iraq's new security forces."

This morning on CNN, Paul Bremer complained that cleric al-Sadr was trying to "bully" his way into power and was "trying to take over the country".

Apparently the appointed civilian administrator of our beloved invading administration has little grasp of the concept of irony.

No joke. T

It is, however, somewhat heartwarming to see two groups (Sunni and Shiite) that hate each other get over their differences by banding together in their common hatred of us.

Good point, Carl. You see, turns out Dubyah is a uniter after all.

I also give him credit -- he said in his campaign that he's against nation-building, and he's avoided doing any either at home or abroad.

witty bunch of fuckers.what about some suggestions vis-a-vis the sandies trying to fire rockets at anything not nailed down?if we turn our backs on this sake pit it will find it`s way around the world.this is, after all,an ideological conflict.we were paying good money for oil and were happy with the price.they took the cash and armed themselves against us.no matter who was in power we were going to be at this point now.clinton should have taken action after the u.s.s.cole incedent,or after the first attack on the twin towers(did you forget?).no blame.we are in it now because it was bound to happen given the cultural atmosphere of the region.these people actually, physically explode and are considered heroes.it is thier highest purpose in life.there is no way to get the shit back in the horse this time.it is not going to be a happy time over there for a long time.it`s either our women and children or thiers.
